Alice in Chains is one of my all-time favourite bands. I haven't heard the new singer yet, but their old stuff is still just as good to me, if not better, than when it was released. Probably better because the songs have now aged into good wine for the soul.

yeah, I didn't used to like Alice in Chains in the 90's, or N.I.N. or Pink Floyd. That all changed. AIC do seem to get better with age, like Floyd or Zeppelin. Didn't know that had a new singer, I doubt he could be very good.

I actually heard he's supposed to be pretty awesome, though I haven't heard and so I won't say for sure. That's what I've heard, though.
I better check them out one of these days.

So what about the other 90% of their songs?

Why? They were a well-known part of the scene. The point that "they were metal" doesn't disqualify them from "grunge" at all, as the latter isn't a stylistic classification - a well-attested fact.
