I think the word "math" included in the name of a genre of music just sounds ridiculous. I mean, sure, you can be genre anal when someone calls avril lavigne punk, but "mathcore" seems to be going a little too far with that, to me at least.

You do know that math rock is a genre right? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Math_rock

you completely lose. at everything.

Have you ever heard PsyOpus? it's Progressive/Metal/and a dash of "Hardcore"

you say you like DEP but then you say they aren't progressive?

Math Rock is simply another way of saying "Technical".

PsyOpus aren't in anyway related to hardcore or have any elements of hardcore in their sound, same goes for DEP.

And that is where you lose. again.

I don't own a DEP cd (i don't know why, I just haven't gotten around to it)

but I do own PsyOpus - The White Light. and their Demo.

The vocals "scream" hardcore (pun intended). This was the exact style popularized by Botch. any album. And calling Botch un-hardcore is very similar to calling Ashlee Simpson artistic. It's simply untrue.

oh I'm sorry, I didn't know I was supposed to limit hardcore to the 4 chord anthems or Black Flag or Minor Threat

real hardcore can range from From Ashes Rise to Comeback Kid to Botch to Drowning Man to Sinking Ships to This Is Hell

way to make judgements.

That was a laughable post. Clearly you don't listen to Black Flag often enough.
