Damaged Vox, Better Music?
So in the fall out from Nu-Metal, Avenge Seven Fold seems to have picked up the reigns where, i don't know say Korn, left off. I don't know too much about this band so I checked out Bat Country and while it was missing a real hook to pull it through, it was relativly decent.
I went back and checked out some older stuff and my general impression was that it was just who can scream the loudest and longest and the throw in chromatic speed solos underneath. They weren't all like this but you get my drift. So the question is, for anyone who knows them better than myself, did they become better after whats-his-faces throat surgery or do you think its a general improvement? Have there been other bands that seemed to improve after an event like this?

Avenged Sevenfold was a mediocre hardcore band, and all they've done is become a boring nu metal group trying to revive hair metal. I don't care for for the album at all. Its just kind of bores me, I don't find the guitar work anything special either, amazing solos have never been something I freak out over. The vocals get annoying and they overuse the snare drum. Don't care for City Of Evil, but I suppose its better then the stuff they use to put out.
Sonny Moore (From First To Last) has had vocal surgery recently. They just release their album "Heroine" which is awful. The Levy is one of the worst songs i've ever heard. I use to like (and still like a few songs) Dear Diary My Teen Angst has a body count, so I had some expectations when listening to Heroine. I was really disappointed and alot of other people I know feel the same. So I think after vocal surgery was awful for them, sonnys voice was the main problem. This is one of those depends on the situation things, but I think avenged sevenfold improved musically I suppose. They aren't as bad, I don't like them. But I suppose their what MTV needs. A group of "bad boys" and "rebels" that spend their time hyping their image and the media and MTV obviously love it. And the populace probaly loves it too. While From First To Last just put out an awful album, and alot of people tend to think so. But I suppose the scene they're involved in will love it and praise it as the best album of the year. |
