^ Yes, I find that sometimes; the first album I hear from an artist is often the one that impresses me the most, and the next one feels like a runner-up - though come to think of it, the reverse happens plenty of times too...

^ I wonder if you´ll make an effort with any of these, Briks!

This has a short, sharp and sweet guitar solo in it; get yourself ready at two mins in , or you´ll miss it! :-

The Allman´s have so many great guitar solos; I´m choosing this instrumental because, by their standards, it´s pretty concise but clearly demonstrates what they are capable of:-

With this song, it´s not so much the solo that catches my attention as the cool dialogue that´s goes on between the guitar and the vocals, right from the opening bars.

You know they don´t give a f**k about anybody else!"

Machine gun by Hendrix is the top for me for pure emotion and brilliance.

Others off the top of my head:
Over the mountain - Randy Rhoads
Kid Charlemagne - Larry Carlton
Comfortably Numb - David Gilmour
Ten Years Gone - Jimmy Page
Texas Flood - SRV
Cliffs of Dover - Eric Johnson

One of the great underrated guitar solos of all time, Larry Carlton playing on the Crusaders song "Spiral".

George Harrison's on Something always struck me for how amazingly melodic and simple it is.

Or how about Fripp's on St Elmo's Fire off of Another Green World?

Have you seen the video from the George Harrison tribute. About the 3:30 mark Prince just goes off. No one knew it was coming, and you can tell by all of their expressions.
He nails one of the most ridiculous solos I've ever heard and then tosses his guitar and walks out.

If anyone has never really appreciated how great of a guitar player Prince was this should show you all you need to know.
