Just making sure everyone knows. ;)
And while my grammar, spelling, phrasing or whatever isn't perfect... I don't believe "for damn sake" really makes any sense. |
I dont personally listen to them anymore, I deeply respect their work. They made some intersting stuff.
and to that article, that guy is a moron. that is all. |
Mr Sensitive, that review was horrible.
It sounds like something Pitchfork would say, hence why it's a sh*tty review and why you actually find something redeeming about it. I f*cking hate reviews based on image, for gods sake, do any music critics actually give a f*ck about music? |
Coheed's first single from Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star IV, Volume II: No World For Tomorrow.

Yea, I heard it the other day and wasn't very impressed. All Coheed albums are so diverse though, so you cant base it on just one song. When TFOT gets back from Europe, they're going on a tour that Coheed is headlining.
|
One of my all time favorite bands. In Keeping Secrets is by far one of my favorite albums, Claudio is a genius.
|
*For boo boo's eyes*
I'd take Modest Mouse over Coheed and Cambria any day, at least they have Johnny Marr. |
I don't seem to listen to all that many songs over 5 minutes long but Coheed & Cambria always manage to keep my attention. I should listen more often.
|
I like how they are a concept band. Brownie points for unfathomable pretentiousness.
And its a good concept too. Two star crossed-lovers take a vow to kill their children so their genes do not escape into the world. |
2113 is the most awesome-tastic song ever, especially the random pirate-riff about 6 minutes into it.
|
I like this band, but i'm still relatively new to them. any songs that are very strongly recommended? apart from those in the thread?

I love the song The Devil in Jersy City and The Suffering. You should really get No world for tomorrow.
full title is: Good Apollo Im burning star VI: vol.2 No World for Tomorrow. it's a great album I like feathers, and Radio bye bye. I really want the second stage turbine blade and in keeping secrests of silent eatrth 3 but I dont know where to find them. |
i cant really get into this band besides for the song welcome home, i think i cant get into it because the vocals, the lead singer sounds like he wears his pants to tight ha, anyone got any opinions on what they think of this band
|
I saw Coheed a couple weeks ago....
I was disappointed. Bad. |

The improv solo in 'In Keeping Secrets' was the shiz man. While I was there I bought one of the comics that the lyrics are based off of...gotta say, wasn't overjoyed with it. Anyway I played No World for Tomorrow to death, so next I think I'm get familiar with either 'Second Stage Turbine Blade' or 'In Keeping Secrets...' |
i have never heard one single thing by this band. Is that good or bad?
|
Jackhammer,
I can dig some of their recorded stuff... I guess I used that to compare against their live show. I know most bands sound better because of studio magic, but their live show really didn't move me at all. Could be personal preference. Dunno... |

Weird vocals, Claudio Sanchez has a very odd voice. I admire the sheer craziness and intricacy of their albums though- i've never seen "concept album" taken to this extent:
The Amory Wars - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia All-in-all, pretty kickass band. |
I'm bringing this back.
I want people to talk about Coheed. I want to talk about Coheed. |
What the hell is this thread doing in "Rock N Roll, Classic Rock & 60s Rock"? Seriously?
|
I thought the same thing. Hahaha.
|
Are we talking about the story or the band itself?
I love them so much, as long as we stop at In Keeping, can't say that I care much for No World For Tomorrow, and From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness was extremely hit or miss. |
I just love the band in general.
I want to look into them a lot more. I only literally own two of their albums. I should probably buy some more. |

Anyway... I started listening to them with The Second Stage Turbine Blade. I loved it, it was like nothing I'd ever heard. And I was really impressed with each album that came out after, like each improved on the last. Until No World for Tomorrow, which I thought was a step back. I guess it just didn't offer anything I hadn't heard before, and maybe I was just outgrowing them. Because after a few listens the material fit fine in their discography...I just didn't have the urge to play it as much as I had with their other 3 albums. So now I hardly listen to them. Claudio's vocals are definitely not for everyone, but for some reason I never had a problem with them. But since I've disconnected from the band over the past few years, it's a bit hard connecting with them again. I feel like I'm new to them and I'm not sure about them now. I think it's also that since that time I discovered them and The Mars Volta (around 2003), I've gotten into a massive amount of 70s progressive rock. So in comparison, this just sounds like pop now. I mean not really, but kind of like pop punk in comparison to Dead Kennedys or something. |
I just bought "The Second Stage Turbine Blade" a few months ago.
I started with "Good Apollo." The album will always be close to my heart. Claudio's vocals are unique. During some songs, they can get fairly obnoxious. But his voice isn't really that high all of the time. During live performances, he often has to switch octaves to a lower one. |

Better. xD
Edit: Why are their albums imported? That makes it cost so much more. >.< |

Either way, SSTB is my favorite CoCa album, it's got the punk-est feel out of them, and it's what immediately hooked me. |

I'll still say their best song is "Godsend Conspirator." One of my all time favorite songs by any band. |
No World For Tomorrow is definitely one of their best albums.
I'm loving it. |
