#2. Alien Cowboys

Are another quartert of musicians hailing from San Francisco, they have been active since 1997 with 5 albums under their belt. Alien Cowboys are a feel good rock outfit as their music sort of lifts you. Lead Guitarist Ralph Perucci has been compared to Vai so thats also something to have a listen for. They're opening ST album is a good place to start and includes covers of Hey, Bulldog (Beatles), Spanish Castle Magic (Hendrix) and a couple others.

Band members:
Ralph Perucci - Lead Guitar
Ian Thomson - Drums
Greg Jones - Bass
Bruce Stevenson - Rhythm Guitar

I've decided I'm NOT going to touch it until it comes out. I am promising myself.

#3. Freewill

A Japanese Heavy progressive band formed in 2002. Influences coming from Rush, Dream Theater, Devin Townsend, Pain Of Salvations and some spacy sounds that we hear from the likes of Pink Floyd and Hawkwind. Their sound is very avantgarde with a shot of spacey and flows effortlessly between the divisions of Prog Rock and Prog Metal. These guys are amazing should you ever get to see them or hear one of their albums. Never Act is their second and latest effort.

Band Members:
Masahiro Lee - Guitars,Synthesizers
Shunsuke Yagi - Synthesizers+Electronics
Hisashi"syo"Nakao - Bass
Shingo"sin"Uchida - Drums

Steve Vai. Not only is he an amazing guitarist, but his music is very soulful and spiritual. He's an amazing composer.

A lot of people don't like instrumental songs, though, and I think it's because it takes a more musically understanding person to appreciate the melodies alone. Personally, I prefer instrumental over vocalized songs. Vocals are over-rated.
