at the beginning of the thread he said no "general"... wondering what that means..
anywhoo, here goes:

no particular order, of course.

Norma Jean
August Burns Red
Misery Signals
As I Lay Dying
Meshuggah
Tool (does this count?)
Every Time I Die
Killswitch Engage
The Acacia Strain
Unearth

although my current top ten is always different.. this just happens to be an "all-time" or "overall" list.

BMTH is way to high on the list
TDWP shouldn't be on the list..
BTB&M is too low on the list.

I already commented on this, but it was a while ago, and my opinions have changed a bit...

In order:

Nightwish
Tristania
Epica
Sirenia
Wolves in the Throne Room
Burzum
Blind Guardian
Ulver
Elvenking
Deadlock

Or something like that...
