My bad. Didn't realize you were opposed to replacing a generic, boring, vanilla band like Behemoth with Nile. I once saw a show were Job for a Cowboy may or may not have blown them off the stage. Job. For. A Cowboy.

I just saw Behemoth a couple weeks ago and they were fantastic. It's funny you describe them as uninteresting, because that was my reaction to them at first listen several years ago as well. There's even a post by me somewhere on MB referring to them as being "paint by numbers". But a funny thing happened: they grew on me. I think the first step was my realization that their drummer is fucking phenomenal. Then I noticed that the whole band was incredibly tight. Then I started to notice they actually had quite a bit of variety in their albums. Before long I was a fan. I've never gotten there with Nile despite liking the idea of them and giving them many, many chances.

Ehhh, I don't like top 10 things cause it's hardly applicable in representing what I like to listen to at the moment. I'll state the 5 that I'm recently into.

1. Before the dawn
2. Heaven Shall Burn
3. Threat signal
4. Insomnium
5. In Flames

I likes me some Heaven Shall Burn. I don't know how much of it is studio effects, but those vocals are fantastic, and I guess they were early enough that they're metalcore and death metal, but without being, you know... deathcore. Along with Ted Maul, they're the only deathcore band I like without having to say "They're good for deathcore". You should check those dudes out. Cracked out combo of deathcore and electronica that never sounds like a gimmicky mashup.

I'm not a huge HSB fan, but seeing some live footage certainly made me respect the vocalist. His vocals didn't seem to get their sound from overproducing of any kind and they indeed have a death edge to them.

Anyway, back to the topic.
-Stoic Dissention
-The Chasm
-Evoken
-Averse Sefira
-Death
-Gorgoroth
-My Dying Bride
-Hail Spirit Noir
-Lunar Aurora
-Inconcessus Lux Lucis

Really? I figured his voice had to have been altered in studio. That's pretty awesome. He kind of sounds like the guy from Obituary if he was born to sing in a melodeath band.

Feel nice to hear other people talking about my bands. It feels like I'm in my own world here at times. Rock on for HSB \m/, you can't really go wrong with them, I found them good from earliest album all the way to last album. Thoroughly enjoyable. Has the fusion of angst and power I like so much in music.

I'm very familiar with every one of those bands. Within Temptation is the most solid.
