Opeth Tried to only include things that would traditionally considered "metal bands" albeit it's difficult to make that distinction. Excluded things like Soundgarden, Deep Purple, etc. since I consider them more hard rock than metal. Black Sabbath was a close one but due to it's stigma, I felt it fit. I also excluded things I wouldn't predominately consider metal like Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, and such. Naked City was a tough pick but I doubt anybody could argue Torture Garden era Naked City is not a metal band. Special Mention: Behemoth, Leviathan, Nile, Dio, Melvins, Dog Fashion Disco/Polkadot Cadaver, System of a Down, and Morbid Saint. Always a fan of metal, just haven't really explored it that deeply. One of my favorite genres, and probably one of the most fun. |
