Definitely. Kvlt neckbeards annoy me just as much as scrawny scene kids. It's just that one type is much more common than the other (at least in my experience on a college campus and living in central Indiana).

He's probably talking about music fans, not musicians themselves. As an artist you can dress however you want to express yourself but most other people with careers have to adapt to some social norms...

Gauges look awful. Unless you're in a band, don't wear them.

Question Metalcore, what is it really?

From the origins of rock and metal but how can you really define it? What kind of hard rock doesn't really incorporate some kind of metal anyway??

First it was nu-metal now this. A lot of newer bands are put into this category. There are some good metalcore bands out there IMO, you can't bash this whole genre. Some bands that are called metalcore, sound hardcore to me.

Anyone have an opinion on this subject?
What do you consider Metalcore? Honestly what kind of hard rock does not have elements of metal in it anyway?

Agreed about to ADTR but unfortunately they are only good for what they do. They will never evolve to anything bigger because they are already within there means. Unfortunate.

This isn't bad but just kind of sounds like every other metalcore song.

For information on what metalcore is, go to the hardcore metal section here.
I'm not an expert, but here are some rough indicators on how I view different styles of hard rock and metal (those with relation to metalcore). See the previous link for information on the genres:

Hard rock with few metal influences (a lot of them came before metal became popular):

Hard rock with heavy metal influences:

(Traditional) heavy metal:

Thrash metal:

Metalcore:

Generic post-hardcore:

Original hardcore punk:

This list may be incorrect. Ask someone who has been listening to metal longer than me if you're in doubt.
