There's nothing wrong with breakdowns...
0:33 1:16 And clean vocals mixed with some screaming can make a very good song... Chorus at 0:44 (wow, only one band?).

Ive said this before, but I don't base my fondness for a band solely based on how much talent they have, if I did I wouldn't like A Day To Remember as much as I do. I lot of post/metalcore bands can right some really catching songs when they put their minds to it (ADTR comes to mind again, they may not be the most talented band ever, but they just know how to... errr... improvise I guess you could say. They just know how to use what they can to make a good song) |

But the thing that bugs me is, why do people who aren't metalcore fans care that bands like Attack Attack and Asking Alexandria exist. It doesn't effect them. There's always gunna be new trash and power metal bands on the scene, and there's always gunna be a market for Iron Maiden to make a new album, so why does it matter? |

They care because something they are deeply passionate about is being tarnished by what they perceive to be terrible bands. In a way, they see it as a threat to metal. Admittedly, this is a pretty empty hatred. The popularity of metalcore isn't really a threat to the other subgenres, but it is annoying to hear scene kids talk about how "hard" they are.
There isn't some crusade against metalcore like you make it out to be. As I said before, you were the one that asked the original question. When metalcore gets brought up in certain circles, it is going to be ridiculed. I'm not going to talk about how good the Colts are in front of a bunch of Patriots fans. |
