Gotta love the attitude in metalcore. Agust Burns Red, Parkway Drive, AILD and ATR get right down to the point with some straight up brutal ****. Parkway is the definition of bad ass imo.

Metal elitists just hate it because it's too far away from real metal. Even though a lot of bands in it aren't that much different.

Nickelback and Godsmack are both terrible full stop. Whether they make money or not is irrelevant.

Its more punk on steroids than metal.

Metalcore is just like any other genre, some of it is good, some of it sucks. Simple as that.

I think what Urban said is entirely correct, because it is supposed to have it's roots (or some of them) in Hardcore Punk it's decidedly lightweight regarding it's directness and aggressiveness. Replacing harsh vocals and blast beats for intensity doesn't make it any more appealing and the appalling lack of bass means that very few bands appeal to me.

Many people seem to think that because it's popular then music fans of a certain age crap on it for the sake of it which is simply not true. I personally judge bands on their own merit regardless of the genre and the simple fact is, is that most Metalcore bands have lost what it is to be a metal band and the emphasis has shifted onto creating a certain sound and sacrificing individuality. The same happened with Thrash in the late 80's too.

im sure that there are some good metalcore bands out there... such as BTBAM... aside from the horrible horrible growling vocals theyre a badass band.

otherwise metalcore is boring, generic, garbage that is all about looks and being rad and playing breakdowns that all sound the same.

I'm certainly not annoyed with a band if they make money.
But to be blunt those bands are piss poor.

I absolutely detest BTBAM and yes I have checked them out and even seen them live but I just cannot stand them personally. Give me Voivod anyday when it comes to providing a different slant on the archetypal Metal sound.

I don't mind Threat Signal and Lamb Of God (although they do bore me after a few tracks).

If you can't see the appeal in this then GTFO.
