The Band w/ the biggest impact (depeche mode, electronic, alternative, blues)

i cant understand how anyone can disagree with the beatles having the biggest impact. even in terms of psychedelia the beatles are the band that elevated this sub-genre to the public conscious. considering the terminology "psychedelia" in a musical context has been around since the Holy Modal Rounders in 1964 it wasnt until the release of sgt. peppers in 1967 that it became a mainstream phenomenon - much like nevermind did for grunge.

I would say Nirvana, Black Sabbath, Green Day, Pink Floyd, and Slayer.

Slayer haven't done that much. They've influenced quite a few metal bands around but hardly a huge overall impact.
Green Day have hardly had time to impact on a mass scale. They weren't exactly glamourised for their earlier better stuff, while their later stuff is getting all the glory but it isn't that flash, it just suits the trends of modern punk pop rock today, a trend which will hopefully mature sometime soon.

The others are good and worthy contributors to a mass of music but I'd again stick with the Beatles. Analogy: A building would crumble without a solid foundation. The foundation for bands started with the Beatles.

Thats the way I see it anyway, sure there were others and some are more interesting musically then the Beatles but there simply had to be some band which truely was considered the building blocks for the bands of today, and to me thats the Beatles.

Green day also stole their sound from the 70s punk movement and on terms of influence the Ramones beat Green Day anyday.

I didnt mean ALL rock music, its just that The Beatles have influenced many genres, that it would take a while to list them all, so im basicly saying that ever since the 60s, pretty much every genre of rock music has had some influence from The Beatles in one why or another.
