As you can see Cobain might have started Nirvana and wrote their lyrics but he does not make the whole band

I like the way he talks of Nirvana as if no-ones ever heard of them before.

I think The Beatles, in terms of impact on me The Smiths. Before them i listened to music every now and again for fun, after i found them it became an obsession.

the indivivual with the most impact on 20th century music would have to be Louis Armstrong

as for the bands you mentioned i'm not sure

I want to say Pixies for my own biases but that is well wrong. You can't deny their huge impact on music today though. Anyways, The Beatles because good pop music is the easiest way to influence anyone.
