Orange Goblin

Okay holy crap I'm sitting at my computer and this song; Getting High On The Bad Times, has just formed a huge grin on my face.

It's not funny or anything I'm just rather pleased with how good it is.

They are a band in between the stoner rock/doom metal genres and have been praised alongside bands of the likes of Electric Wizard and Iron Monkey.

I'm not too clued up on this band but I'll give you the songs I have downloaded just recently:

The World Will Hate This
Getting High On The Bad Times
Rage Of Angels
Hand Of Doom
Blue Snow

They are a fairly tight group, as tight as doomish metal can sound. Which I know isn't that tight since the whole idea of doom metal is to sound sluggish, but the musicianship is good and the vocals are fitting. Once again with a lot of the bands I've been discovering lately, theres some good riffs and guitar work.

^ Probably my least favourite song of theirs so far.

It sounds like something some boring hardrock band would put out.

If you click on one, give it a few seconds to start up as I'd say it needs buffering.

Orange goblin is incredible. I suggest starting out with The Big Black as thats easily my favorite. Sit down, get stoned if youd like and relax cus this music will take you places you haven't been.

And to reply to above my favorite track is probably Scorpionica

The thick chords, grooves and breaks are always right on. If you like'em, give Spirit Caravan "The Last Embrace" a try.

OG are awesome! Nice to see a thread for them.

Time Travelling Blues = epic song.

Great, great band.

Their singer, Ben Ward, is in a band called Raven's Creed too - they sound nothing like Orange Goblin, but you guys might wanna check 'em out.

Orange Goblin is an above average stoner band, from what I can tell. I have 'Frequencies from Planet Ten' and 'Healing Through Fire'. What are their best albums?

Time Traveling Blues is my favorite. Very thrashy, not as psychedelic as Freq. By the end of it, the bands gets into some incredible Southern rock, including a Southern drawl! These guys are Brits, right? Big Black, the next album is just as great, but focuses on doom metal and is their heaviest. Both very tasty.

Yes they are Brits. Time Travelling Blues and The Big Black are my favourites too i think. Their last two releases werent quite up to scratch but they have some decent tunes on them nonetheless.

Great live band too. So high energy, not to mention loud.
