My alltime favourite doom metal band is Novembers Doom!

Not a massive fan of doom, i like the odd band tho,Katatonia and While heaven wept are cool.

Chick Doom? - You mean dark growly vocals with a touch of atmospheric sweet female vocals, I love it when black / doom metal does that, it brings atmoshpere and mood to the song.

Also I don;'t need to 'checkout' because My Dying Bride is also another favourite.

Check out Candlemass if you can, another "tr00 d00m" band, infact I think they influenced MDB.

and I said chick doom because the new album The Pale Haunt Departure has them toning down the death growls and going in a more...commercial direction. which I don't like.

No; "The Pale Haunt Departure was aimed to be more atmospheric" says Paul Kehr (vocalist), and I think the band suceeded greatly, as for the commerical direction statement, I'm not sure how you can say that - Novembers Doom goes way out of the mainstream and into its own droney music type.
