Hendrix, without a doubt. The way he utilised feedback and various timbres in his music still amazes me.

One great guitarist not mentionted on the poll list is Robert Fripp of King Crimson. He rarely solos, but when he does, its a mind-bending experience...

Exclamation Michael Hedges

Oh, I failed to mention, as a primarily acoustic guitarist, Michael Hedges certainly deserves honourable mention...

What about The Edge? He has a pretty unique sound.

Seeing as it's not a debate on who was the most influential revolutionary guitarist of all time and instead just one on who is the best, Hendrix shouldn't have so many votes.

I'll go with Michael Angelo Batio. Not that I'd ever be bothered listening to him or anything

...I'm pretty sure, when deciding who is the "best" at a particular instrument, most people take innovation and influence into consideration. And rightfully so, as far as I'm concerned. Those two qualities are sure as hell a lot more important than speed.

I was going to say Johnny Marr, but he wasn't there ._. or Tommy Emmanuel too.
