I always thought Kurt was alittle over rated, but eh...
of course most of the ones already listed are good.

as for this era of music, at least acoustically, i think Tim Reynolds is amazing.

i cant even understand how kobain could even be considered for this sort of thing. Really, are kids these days deaf? or just completely retarded?

cobain obviously wasn't a virtuoso, but to me that doesn't make a great guitarist. I find most of his stuff more interesting than a lot of Hendrix, anyway. i'd still go with someone like drake or fahey first though, because their guitar work really is interesting as hell to listen to.

I'm not just going on the fact that guitarists are virtuosos, His riffs weren't that great either, and i'm not just talking about that one song (you know the one) i just see a large margin of greatness between someone as brilliant as Hendrix and someone i wouldn't even consider like Cobain.

The thing about Cobain is that he could play complex rhthyms and sing at the same time.

The thing about Cobain is that he influenced an entire generation and to write him off is absurd.

No it's not...it seems to make perfect sense to me, i don't think he belongs in a greatest guitarist thread, yes, he influenced an entire generation so why not put him in the greatest singer thread? because he was far from it...just like he's far from the greatest guitarist of all time.
he just wasn't...can't be compared with someone like Hendrix as a guitarist.

Cobain said in an interiew something like "I can't play like Sergovia but then again he probably couldnt play like me."

Theres no bad or best or whatever, theres just indivduality.
