Who do u think is the best bassist (bass, funk)

Good enough isn't anything to scream about. Yea most do their job but to me good is being atleast slightly above the average.

To me, doing your job well enough for the style you're playing is good, giving an above average performance is very good.... Blowing boo boos ass away would be f*cking amazng.

On my scale doing your job is decent. You have to be a little special to get good. By a little I really do mean a little anyone who let's me notice them and gets by head moving I consider good. But I don't think being able to play in key and on beat makes you a good musician.

If I had a bass player that even considered showing off i`d either tell him to shut up & play the song or buy a guitar & do it properly.

Since when can't bass be a solo instrument?... It has been a major soloing instrument in jazz since, well, forever.

For some genres, bass is way more important on guitar, guitar often times is just icing on the cake, what is one of the most important things in a song?... The beat, and you can rarely have a good beat without bass, imagine funk music without bass (i don't even want to), it would freaking suck ass.

There`s a difference between 'showing off' and 'playing well' If he wants to play bass solos let him do it in a f*cking jazz band.

Funk already sucks ass, so it really couldn't be much of a departure

A little more than "rather".

Urban: Having your role in a band being completely demolished isn't exactly playing well... Solos aren't vital for a bass player, that is very true, but you say it's automatically a bad thing if a bass player chooses to put their ability to good use instead of just playing bitch to the rest of the band and completely wasting their talent, which couldn't be further from the truth.

As for Sid Vicious, i still can't take such a comment very seriously, as far as i'm concerned, he's the worst "bass player" in music history, not just because he couldn't play a half decent line if his life depended on it, but because he has set the role of the bassist back a million years, he has made a freaking joke out of the entire profession, and the fact that he's so popular is proof that some people just prefer silly stage antics over actual talent.... Bass players are not just "the other guy" and no matter what you say their role in the music is quite important.
