Thumbs up

I personally hate the label "nu metal." I think it's an insult to the bands who happen to fall under that category. I also don't know see how it's a bastardization to metal, or why so many people tend to hate it either. And what defines a true metalhead? I personally have encountered a whole lot of metalheads are are way too hard headed and narrowminded about music. So if that's a metalhead, than no thanks. But basically I don't like any kind of label. I listen to jsut about anything that strikes my fancy, and I don't care if its called emo, metal, or whatever.

Anyway, very informative thread. But I don't think I saw Pantera listed anywhere! What travesty!

psh, he was right to not include Pantera. Overrated like crazy. People jock them far too much, Dimebag was a good guitarist but the rest of the band nah.

Pantera, was a ****ing glam rock band who loved to spray there hair, it was like the first 3 albums were glam rock, after they relised they looked like baboons, they put on a new image, pantera have done nothing as far as metal goes, I stick them in the nu-metal catogrey to be honest, just like all the other ****ty n00b bands "panterA r LyK sO0 kL mAn iF u Dnt lYk kOrN u lykr suck!!111one", dimebag was a ****kid, not a legend.

I agree with the author who posted it, except Iron maiden are heavy metal, not power, also where is the viking / folk genre?

And Merkaba - In Search Of The Truth, was one of my favourite albums.

Maiden had aspects of both. I think the imagery did it for me when I had to choose

and I will be including the Viking/Pagan sub genre in version 2

maiden we're, whilst with paul dianno im sure at some point considered to be punk in their early years, also im pretty sure he wasn't kicked out when maiden decided to tour with priest because they wanted a better singer, have you heard paul dianno's vocals? it rate him over bruce ****ingson any day, plus im damn sure there we're a couple of vocalists that came before paul dianno. at some point im almost positive that steve harris was the vocalist.

You should add Pentagram and Saint Vitus to Doom.

Sometimes I don't really like Bruce's voice, it reminds me of a violin!
But with Bruce, they did make better albums afterward.

p.s - its filtered the word 'D|ckinson'
