I've said this a bunch of times before and i'll say it again.
Slipknot isn't metal and i wouldn't consider him a good vocalist. Half the time hes just talking fast into the microphone and when he does sing. Its average at best. My opinion is horrible pick.

call me a neo-metalhead....but
trevor phipps - unearth (i know he doesnt sing....but i love the scream) phil anselmo - pantera (ok not so 'neo' but meh) matt heafy - trivium (yeah....people may hate me for these three...but heafy's got a voice on him.) those are in no particular order....and that opinion is subject to change when i discover new music....but for now....those are my opinion of the best in metal at the moment.

Nu Metal.
Is barely passable as metal. It has metal elements. But so does crust and thats consider punk. and besides im not even sure what nu metal is i thought it was linkin park and limp bizkit? Nows its cold and 3 days grace. Nu metal is basically hard rock with rap and metal elements.
