Relative to their reputation, yes, I do too.
I think there's an unspoken rule that stipulates that if you believe that The Beatles were as innovative and influential as they clearly were, then you must thoroughly enjoy listening to them and accept fans having seizures of appreciation, incessantly inundating you with their music, and touting their influence as as a matter of course, and I don't, and many others, especially in MB territory, feel the same way. It's not elitism it's, "Okay... Let's move on, shall we?". |

That's what I'm saying, though. To blanket state "they suck" is just ridiculous. It's ridiculous with just about any artist whose of substantial notoriety, whether it's overboard or not they have that notoriety for a reason and at the very least deserve respect. You don't have to like them, but that doesn't mean they "suck".

And didn't you say people should stop "giving a frock about how other people talk about a band"? Isn't refraining from saying a band sucks because they have "substantial notoriety" an example of "giving a frock"? |

I get that. But for my sake could you just use a different phrasing? "They suck" is one of the most ignorant sounding phrases I hear people say about music. Why does a band have to suck for all people if you don't like them? Saying they suck implies that they aren't good by some per-established critical consensus. It just ****s with my brain.

At least The Beatles and George Martin opened up possibilities for the evolution of sound. I don't care if the person next to me loves them or hates them, but I do see their work as a good progression for the history of music.
Brokencyde, on the other hand, exist to make many lose hope for humanity in my opinion...although I wish that their time in the small spotlight will finish soon. Last edited by Screen13; 12-29-2010 at 06:43 PM. |

Neon Trees.
What a ****ing hoodwink these *******s pulled. I was really hoping for a watereddown version of the strokes this year that could play on my grandmothers favorite radio station yet still by hyped (lawl) by my local independent outfit.
