Mushroomhead: The other day I took my dog out for a walk. I was out there for about an hour, she wouldn't go! To pass up the time I wanted to listen to some "heavy" music that fitted my mood at the time. I remember a friend of mine who was really into Mushroomhead and let me borrow a CD of his. I put it on my ipod and never really thought of listening to them until I was scrolling through my artists. Foolishly I selected them. This music made me more angry. These guys are no different then Slipknot. Once again the vocal's absolutley suck. Like Corey Taylor it sounds like the vocalist has a hemroid the size of a football lodged in his ass and he's screaming through the pain making incoherent vocals. The music is very simple, looking up the tabs later I wanted to humor myself and found that it was painstakingly easy to play. Music doesn't necessarily have to be complex to enjoy it, but when my friend is saying that these guys "are very talented, you should listen to them." I'm going to check them out. Once again just like Slipknot the music really isn't challenging, there lyrics suck and what's up with the lame ass masks? I honestly think that these kind of bands are meant to attract 10-15 year old kids. They think "hey look at these guys in masks that's scary! And they swear a lot! This is badass!"

On the other hand, i've been there myself. It shouldn't have any effect on you at all but often it does. If i listen to a band and I don't like them then thats MY opinion. Maybe they have a vast back catalogue and fans of the band want me to sample different songs, albums, era's of that band...thats fine. People telling me i'm wrong is not. |

And that's all I've ever experienced in the 8 years since I first listened to that album, so that frustration with being told I'm wrong (both in real life and on music forums) as accumulated. I think a lot of that hatred is just out of spite, which I suppose is kind of childish, but so is letting one persons negative opinion on a band that is almost unanimously praised as the second coming of Jesus.

I've said this before, but it's worth repeating. The Beatles are so legendary because it is probably the one time in music history that the most talented band (subjective, I know, but most people will agree...I can admit a band has talent even if I don't like them) was also the most popular. That never happens.
