Anything post-grunge is horrific. Most of the trendy Indie from 2005 on, all of the metalcore/deathcore in the last few years and of course - Metallica.

I agree with you, most virtuosic players don't write stuff that anybody but instrumental junkies would like. After a few minutes of impressive displays, you become desensitized to it and often they don't know how to tone it down and build performances with different dynamics to highlight the impressive segments more so.

It's like with a lot of big budget films, the special effects are not special if they are constantly being used.

Woah woah woah, I didn't say it was a theory. But Satriani stole the song/riff off somebody else, and then Coldplay stole it off him.

I think Coldplay are crap, I'm just saying calling them bad because they stole something off somebody who stole it off somebody else is a bit weak. Them being dull is a better reason to dislike them.

Eh, people are bound to rip each other off eventually. Sometimes they don't even know it, sometimes they do know it and just don't give a ****. Not an attack against you, just pointing out that Satriani is a legend for reasons other than his own work.

Poor reason to dislike a band, fair enough if they get a lot of credit for being influential and groundbreaking, when really they stole all their stuff. But otherwise, it's a bit of a poor reason. Coldplay suck because they're dull, not because they plagiarise.

I'm indifferent to Sitriani.
