Blink 182 >>>> Led Zeppelin and The Beatles? It really annoys me when people say great bands like them suck, them not being your thing/cup of tea is a lot different to them being genuinely bad.

I don't have a problem with you not liking it. I do however have a problem with you dismissing them (Mainly just The Beatles/Zeppelin) as "sucking", though.

The Beatles, the first band to really break the mould? The first band to add depth into their music, John Lennon's voice, Paul McCartney's ability as a songwriter. The list goes on.

Led Zeppelin, if you appreciate rock and roll then you'll know.

All I hear is overrated when I hear any of their stuff.

Because of their status in music, when you first sit down to listen to them. You're expected something life changing, and every time you're looking forward to something, it's never as good as what you're expecting. I think everyone waits for albums to come out, listens to them and they're a slight let down. I think you just need to push past their status and listen to the music rather than how highly people rate them. Overexposure and/or them not being your thing does NOT mean them bands belong in this thread. They belong on the overrated/underrated bands thread.

^Ridiculous claims like this are exactly the reason why people grow to hate the Beatles instead of being merely ambivalent about them.

It's the general consensus, almost a cliché because of how widely used "The Beatles were the first" is. But a cliché is a cliché because there's some truth there. Around Rubber Soul/Revolver their ability as musicians and songwriters was great. They obviously changed music and for people to mention them in this thread is a bit of a joke. Overrated/Underrated bands thread - yes. This thread, no.

Well, I think they kind of suck. Like I mentioned before I wouldn't really think much about it except for the fact that people insist on making silly claims like "they were the first band to break the mould", as if no one ever did anything innovative in the entire history of music before they came along. As a result they fit well in both the "suck" and the "overrated" threads.
