Decemberunderground killed them for me, they went down a path that wasn't my cup of tea (I haven't even listened to Crash Love). Sing The Sorrow was good though, it was my introduction to the band back in 2003 and i have some great memories attached to that album. But the real great period in AFI's career was definitely the Black Sails In The Sunset/All Hallow's/The Art Of Drowning period, they were untouchable then. Their first 3 albums and early EPs have some great moments too, lots of raw energy and passion, but they hadn't quite developed their sound.

I've read this whole thread and I'm still confused... most people seem to think a band sucks, just because they think it's "cool" to say so. Alot of the bands mentioned have been extremely popular during their time(s), so they must be doing something right.
Beatles, Stones, Who, Santana, Zeppelin.... these are all Hall of Fame bands Green Day... Grammy Award Winners Nickelback... Platinum selling artist Motley Crue, Poison... Icons of their genres I'm not saying that justifies acceptance into your record collection, but you can not deny that talent must account for their success. Ignorance and hate to musical artists that physically do you no harm is kinda weird. It's just sound and rhythms with (in most cases) words attached.... nothing more, unless you're listening to your Judas Priest vinyl backwards. Maybe some should look at it like this... If the bands mention in this thread are that bad and truly suck, then those who judge should be able to, without a doubt, produce audio-art that is of higher quality. Right? Let's hear your multi-platinum selling album... or just your newest single will do fine. |

If I think a band sucks, then it is because that is my honest opinion. If you don't, feel free to explain why. That is why this thread is here. edit: Though if you are going to defend Nickelback, expect some nasty comments.

Yup that's pretty much the right thing to say. Green Day, might be Grammy Award Winners, they might not suck in an exact definition, but many people dislike them.
For example, The Beatles might be one of the most influential bands, but I still dislike them. To restate duga's phrase: What you think is golden, might be viewed as **** to someone else. |

^ fair enough... you guys have good points. I do agree that everyone DOES have an their right to an opinion. That's why we have so many types of music. It's just that the majority of posts failed to describe why they disliked an artist...
By simply saying something or anything sucks, while it is the individual's "right", to say it just sounds ignorant... that's all. No offense. |

I have strong opinions about many bands, but I've got three in particular that I'm sick of hearing about lately.
The Jonas Brothers Bring Me The Horizon Bullet For My Valentine The Jonas Brothers and Bring Me The Horizon have two things in common - they prey on trend whores because they're all talentless pretty boys. I liked Bullet For My Valentine's first two albums, but Fever sucks. It's all the same recycled crap from their previous albums. Booooring! |

Wow, I wasn't quite expecting my list to cause such disruption. I'll explain.

seconded That being said, I think there are few bands that I was reminded of that deserve recognition. Green Day No Doubt Avenged Sevenfold U2 I'll explain forthwith. If you win a Grammy, that doesn't mean you're good. If you sell 1,000,000 records, that doesn't mean you're good either. It just means that you played by industry standards and sold yourself well, because people will fuckin' buy anything. Also, if you drop one good album or have a few good songs, but the rest of your repertoire is mindless dreck, guess what? You fuckin' suck!
