of that list, i like Jordison and Grohl, especially Grohl, i agree, he should be mentioned more often. Only heard a couple of 182 songs but i remember thinking the drummer wasn't bad. i've only heard one song by tool and i didn't really pay attention to the drums. haven't heard the others, well i've heard things about Tommy Lee....not necessarily good things, so i'll just say things.

Merkaba 12-05-2005 12:46 AM

Josh Freese. Great choice.

Brad Wilk (RATM, Audioslave) Specifics: None, just a wicked drummer overall.
Brant Bjork (Kyuss and others) Specifics: Kyuss-800; Kyuss-50 Million Year Trip.
Phil Taylor (Motorhead) Specifics: Hellraiser, Speedfreak.
Matt Cameron (Mainly Pearl Jam and Soundgarden) Specifics: PJ-Alive; Soundgarden-Jesus Christ Pose.

They'd be my first four that I think truly miss out due to the old timers. Probably others better but these four made it to my mind first. Other mentions:

Dale Crover (Nirvana and Melvins)
Sean Kinney (AIC)
Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater)
Tom Diello (Monster Magnet)

Starless and Bible Black and Red are two good KC albums with Bruford.

More favorite's

Justin Foley (Killswitch Engage) - Just plain kick arse.
Tucker Rule (Thursday) - Maybe not the best drummer ever, but adds a damn good touch to the music he plays.

Max is somewhat "over the hill" now. But in his younger days, he was actually an excellent drummer.

Thats a great list, but I dont think we are allowed to mention any classic rock drummers, it may anger misfitspunk, because he thinks joey jordison is better than any classic rock drummer. Your welcome to post in my drummer thread, because I, along with you realize that the majority of great drummers come from the classic rock era.
P.S. Im ashamed that you have forgotten Bonham, Moon, Peart and Baker

No need to be ashamed, Kash.

The guy who started this thread stated "But i want some less unheard of drummers that you think are good."

So I had no intention of naming "elite" drummers like Bonham, Moon, Peart and Baker--all of whom were household names in their prime.

Thank you, I am reassured now. I started a thread with a poll between moon, peart, bonzo, baker, and carrey, and misfitpunks (aka alexisonfire, i think he changed his name to try to ditch his past reputation), said that he thinks joey jordison is better than all 5 of them

Merkaba 12-06-2005 01:25 AM

He never said he thinks Joey and such are better.

This thread was for drummers who are overshadowed by the likes of Moon, Carey, Peart and co.

He is making a thread for the men/women who get less recognition then they deserve. So don't be ashamed, because Music Man did not forget those guys, he was merely posting about what this thread is actually for.

Kashmir86 12-06-2005 09:58 AM

Actually, if you read post #127 in my best drummer thread, he states:
I'd vote for joey jordison if he were on there out of all those guys.
It just means i think hes the best out of them.

(those guys = moon, peart, bonham, baker, carrey)

sleepy jack 12-06-2005 11:56 AM

Thats right I THINK not IS.
Leave my thread now or i swear to god ill PM a mod.
Your trying to start an arguement jackass.
