I might be one of the few with mixed emotions about The Black Keys. On one hand I think it's great that there are refreshing new bands that decide to go back to blues roots and be successful doing it. Following The White Stripes but being a breath of fresh air is exciting. But on the other hand, I recognize that Patrick Carney isn't a very good drummer, and if you're going to follow in the footsteps of The White Stripes, it's best not to follow their blueprint for a drummer (I know he's not that bad). I think a good drummer is an integral concept to a blues band, and Carney doesn't really pull it off for me.

I'm going to see The Black Keys at a festival later this summer, and then I'll be able to tell whether they are good.

I know this person quite well and I can verify that he is indeed a hipster emo nerd. A hipster emo computer nerd.

I also recommend Chulahoma. Its sounds a bit more raw than their studio stuff. I prefer it over Rubber Factory.

The Black Keys....

My friend introduced me to them and let me listen to Attack and Release. It was completely golden. Totally flawless. :]
I'd honestly never listened to anything like that before, but it really did grow on me and I began to love it.
Before then, I was strictly alternative rock.
But The Black Keys have become my new favorite band.
I picked up my own copy of Attack & Release as well as Rubber Factory and Magic Potion. They're amazing.

Also, Im going to Louisville, Kentucky to see them live.
I've never been to a show before so Im wondering if they do signings and/or meet & greets after the show....I'd really love to get an autograph. =]
Totally pumped about seeing them though!

unless I'm misunderstanding what "get live" means, I'm going to argue the stripes can throw down

I think they ment for people to read it as, "How exciting can a two man band get *pause* live?"

I know how they ment to say it, its just kind of hard to type it out for people to see.
Anyway, I dont care much for The White Stripes. My friend would kill me if she heard me say that, but its true. They're just kinda...beh. I dont know why I dont like them. I mean, I've only heard a few songs, but it just didnt jump out at me.
Dan (TBK) can freakin' do some damage on the guitar.
Maybe I need to listen to more White Stripes songs.....
Dont hate me, thats just my opinion. =]
