Sludge
I'm putting together a mix with all the sludgiest songs I can find, and I want some suggestions. "Sludge" kind of transcends boundaries from heavy metal to grunge and what not, but this is what I have so far:
Monster Magnet - Superjudge Melvins - Hooch Nirvana - Scentless Aprentice Mudhoney - Beneath the Valley of the Underdog Kyuss - Demon Cleaner Black Sabbath - Into the Void Melvins - Night Goat Nirvana - Love Buzz The Stooges - Penetration Green River - PCC Soundgarden - Flower Nirvana - Paper Cuts Black Sabbath - Sweet Leaf any suggestions would be appreciated. |

^ Yeah I must admit that his list varies from what I would call sludge but grunge is fairly sluggish in itself, so may as well go with the flow. I had mentioned Electric Wizard but perhaps they aren't the sludge he's looking for.
Melvins - Honey Bucket Alice In Chains - Would, We Die Young, Man In The Box, Them Bones. Prong - Snap Your Fingers Snap Your Neck, Face Value, Rude Awakening. Clutch - Come On Mother****er, The Mob Goes Wild, Mercury, Profits Of Doom.

Godflesh - Anything Is Mine
Nirvana isn't sludge, and your definition is a bit off. But most of those bands are solid (Monster Magnet, Electirc Wizard, some Kyuss)

^ You might like it, it's one of my favourite styles of music, not that thats any reason to like it.
My idea of sludge falls pretty much under Doom Metal. Without entering into a genre war, I just reckon that doom metal is your one stop sludgy music shop. Sabbath and Cathedral and co are great examples. Doom metal even has a sub-sub genre, no doubt created by that fat man again, called "sludge doom".
