As far as music goes, I mostly listen to metal..... 99% of the time. I know it's pretty narrow-minded, but I'm open to any recommendations for jazz, classical, blues, or hard rock..... no will give them to me, though.

Enough whining, then.

Amon Amarth
Arch Enemy
Cannibal Corpse

Dark Tranquillity
Dying Fetus
In Flames
Necrophagist
Nile
Opeth
Strapping Young Lad

Black Metal:

Cradle of Filth
Dimmu Borgir
Emperor
Immortal
Old Man's Child
Satyricon
Kovenant
Venom

Thrash/Speed/Power metal;
Anthrax
Dragonforce
Dream Evil
Kreator
Lunatic
Slayer

Heavy Metal;
Iron Maiden
Ozzy
Black Sabbath
Pantera
White Zombie

Hardcore/Metalcore/Grindcore;

As I Lay Dying
Between the Buried and Me
Bleeding Through
Converge
Cast The Stone
Elysia

Why not go for rock that's more ambient and then let that guide you to other genres of music?

Some bands you might like:

KIDNEY THIEVES
BIFFY CLYRO
MIDNATSOLL
MARTIN GRECH
STEVIE RAY VAUGHAN
SKINDRED
CREAM
JIMI HENDRIX

just a few bands that you may like!

I've listened to Hendrix and Cream. Didn't like Cream, loved Hendrix. Some jackass stole my cd's one day, though, and I never could find the Hendrix cd they took.
