I'm actually really looking forward to the acoustic album. I prefer Beck when he's at his mellowest, like on Sea Change and One Foot In The Grave, so I'm hoping the acoustic album will be something similar. His other new album is meant to be the 'real' follow-up to Modern Guilt so I'm expecting a 'typical' Beck album with all kinds of experimentation thrown in.

Agreed. It's just so boring. I like Beck for his bizarre lyrics. This sounds like anyone could have made it. Maybe the rest of the album will be better...?

Sounds like the kind of stuff he's been releasing since after Midnite Vultures. I guess you can only be as original as he used to be for so long before you start running out of ideas. Albums as awesome as Mellow Gold, Stereopathetic Soulmanure and Odelay are pretty tough to match. *I hope he still has it in him to make something of that caliber, but I doubt it.*

Turn of phrase, or do you actually doubt it?

"Volcano" is definitely my favorite track on Modern Guilt. I was pleasantly surprised by the album as a whole, after not being that impressed with The Information (there are good tracks but I think overall it was too long, which kept it from getting a lot of repeat listens).

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

For me Soul, Profanity Prayers and Walls have prevailed as my favorite tracks.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

I don't know how many of you visit Beck's website but lately him Nigel Godrich and a group other musicians have been covering the entire Velvet Underground & Nico album and it's delightfully good.

Record Club

We've been working on changes to the website for the last few months. We'll be adding new sections as they're ready. The first one to be added is called Record Club, an informal meeting of various people to record an album in a day. An album will be chosen to be reinterpreted and used as a framework. Nothing rehearsed or arranged ahead of time. A track will be uploaded once a week on beck.com as well as through the web sites of those involved with the project.
It's worth checking out.
