Agreed. I'd also uprate Mutations. Guero wasn't bad either, been a while since I played it though.

Why didn't Modern Guilt do as good as I thought it was last year? I am talking about critically. I personally think it was very good. as far as Beck and his albums, Odelay and Mutations are by far his best.
Have you guys got his latest Record Club albums? He did The Velvet Underground & Nico plus Songs of Leonard Cohen. Now he is doing an album by Skip Spence with Feist and Wilco. Beck, Feist, and Wilco people! I have never heard of Skip Spence but I'm sure this cover will be good. If anyone wants the Record Club albums, let me know... |

I think MV gets the worst rap of all and I don't know why. I think if it was release by anyone else it would have been acclimed at a mor regular clip.

I'm sortof a youngster so my first real introduction to Beck was with Guero. It's still a fantastic record, probably in the top 3 after Odelay and Mellow Gold. I was at the record store back in 2005 with $18 and I chose Bloc Party's first record over Guero, then downloaded it when I got home and listened to them both back to back. I'm still kicking myself over it.

Mutations is a brilliant album, my second favourite after Sea Change. I'm more a fan of mellow Beck than the more funky post-modern stuff, he can write some really sad and beautiful songs. One Foot In The Grave also deserves a mention here.
