if a musician/band says "Hey most people are listening to that new style. Let's change ours to that style so we can stay in business" that's called selling-out. True bands shouldn't change their music just because most people listen to something else. Look at the 70s when disco was coming in. Did Led Zeppelin change their style because of it? No, they came out with Graffiti in '75. Did Bob Dylan change? No, he came out with Blood on the Tracks (which is an amazing album). I hate when bands sell-out; they do it just for money and it pisses me off.

No, i actualy own music from those bands, I have a crapload of Gentle Giant and Van Der Graff Generator on iTunes...Simply because i knew where to look.

If you want to find new music, or even old music that is very rare...Then just download off Kazaa or any other torrent you have...Its not that hard, really.

I was really making a feeble gag about how you'd gone about discovering a band. But nevermind.

I'm well aware of how to download music.

At one point, the Stooges were a virtually unknown band, but they managed to radically change music, simply because those who were open-minded enough to go out to their shows were so influenced that they went on to start bands that defined genres. Afterwards, of course, with Iggy's commercial success and what not they did garner some recognition.

Today, that isn't really the case anymore, especially with things like myspace and whatnot that any original artists are overwhelmed by the flood of pop-punkers who want to be rock stars and get a record deal instead of making lasting music.

Thats a good thing though, its a great way for lesser known bands to get some exposure. Especialy since MTV dosent give a rats ass about music anymore.

I have found some good bands on myspace myself.
