I'd suggest Halloween, particularly KOTSK (Pt II is my fav). They certainly seem to fall into the descriptions given of "epic metal" (that's a new one on me, too!), though I consider them power metal. Of course, when I first started listening to them in the 80's, it was just plain old heavy metal to me.
I don't really give a rats which sub genre things fall into, as long as I like it. I usually have an idea or opinion of what *I* think it is, and I'm happy to view it that way rather than argue pointlessly about it |
