Nope emo isn't emotive hardcore anymore. I don't know why it changed, but it just did. Fall Out Boy can be considered emo because that emoish sound you are refering to isn't really in the emo genre that much anymore. Now it is mostly accompenied by repeditive guitar chords and whiny vocals. Also You could consider MCR to be screamo could you not?
