bungalow 11-22-2005 10:41 AM

I love Dave Grohl....I dont know If he is the best but him and Ringo are my favorites

boo boo 11-22-2005 10:41 AM

I actualy prefer him to Peart, but im trying not to be biased.

Rocker_Chick_88 11-22-2005 11:15 AM

have any of you heard of OPETH?????

bungalow 11-22-2005 11:37 AM

.....yes, everyone here has most likely heard of Opeth....its not like theyre some extremely underground band

Levithan 11-22-2005 11:40 AM

Chris Adler (Lamb Of God)
Vinnie Paul (Pantera/Damageplan)

Kempson 11-22-2005 11:51 AM

Jaska Raatikainen, or Dave McClain just for Davidian, Vinnie Paul in f*cking hostile is crazy also!

right-track 11-22-2005 11:54 AM

Keith Moon for me, not the best technically, but easily the most exciting and entertaining drummer ever.

antman188 11-22-2005 11:59 AM

...haven't there been like 20 threads like this?
Anyway, i voted for Moony, though i love Bonham as well

bungalow 11-22-2005 12:02 PM

I just did a search for best drummer....I think this is the only one, there is A Fave drummer thread though

antman188 11-22-2005 12:23 PM

that's the one. Nevermind then.

mosesandtherubberducky 11-22-2005 12:32 PM

I voted for Keith Moon... Joey from Slipknot is good for his technique but what about Meg White I like her striped down simplicity.

Merkaba 11-22-2005 01:28 PM

I like Danny Carey but I like Keith Moon also. I'll give Danny boy a push start.

ArtistInTheAmbulance 11-22-2005 02:04 PM

Keith Moon.

[/Keith Moon wins by a landslide] :)

It also makes me happy to see that Joey Jordison is not on this poll.

Are you joking? Toned down simplicity? It's not toned down simplicity, she's just ****.

Why is she ****?.... Because she dosent wank on a double bass like a monkey with a baseball bat like all metal drummers tend to do?... Moses was right about the tone downed simplicity, she uses it to her advantage, she just plays basic stuff, hows that bad?, rock music wasnt always complicated as bloody hell you know. Its not like she actualy screws up or misses notes, she just does her job, which is keeping the rhythm in a band that has no bass player to help her. If you want a bad drummer, try Tommy Lee, that guy is more sloppy than a sloppy joe.

gregb 11-22-2005 02:39 PM

I still say the best is buddy rich, I haven't seen anything change my mind yet

Kempson 11-22-2005 02:41 PM

The drummer from Def Leppard > Meg White...

AND he's only got one arm.

The White Stripes are the sum of all their parts.
Meg being 50% of that sum. Her minimalistic style contributes to 50% of what the sum total of The White Stripes are...SHIT HOT!!!

boo boo 11-22-2005 03:10 PM

If you are gonna bash bands like Nirvana and White Stripes, then judge them by the whole and not the sum of their parts. By your logic, Pink Floyd sucks ass because Nick Mason isnt a virtuoso of any kind, and Jimi Hendrix sucks because Noel Redding isnt a bass god.

Who me?

bungalow 11-22-2005 03:15 PM

no...Kempson

Laces Out Dan! 11-22-2005 03:16 PM

Man i truly sont understand.........yes Keith Moon is a great drummer.......But hes not even close to as good as Peart or a lot of drummers

Laces Out Dan! 11-22-2005 03:21 PM

Like this is for "BEST" drummer not the most entertaining

Good point LesPaul.

In which case it's Peart.
But if I had a choice to see Peart or Moon, then it's Moon every time.

Merkaba 11-22-2005 04:12 PM

^ I think "best" should include how well they perform too. It's all a part of being part of the band. Entertainment wise.

Laces Out Dan! 11-22-2005 07:53 PM

True enough....But i still think that my point stands

stiffler8402 11-22-2005 08:21 PM

im just going to say vinnie paul he kicks my ass

Kashmir86 11-22-2005 08:52 PM

I'm suprised to see that so many of you prefer moon with almost no mention of bonham. I think that bonhamn surpasses moon in skill and possilby is more entertaining to watch as well, but it's hard to say. I have to give him alot of credit to be able to solo for sometimes in excess of 1 hour. I love watching him play moby dic k live, none of these other drummers have a moby **** like bonham's. I sort of put neil peart and danny carey in the same boat, they are both extremely talented drummers, but i do get bored watching them much sooner than bonham or moon, and i think captavating the audiences attention is a major part of drumming

antman188 11-22-2005 09:14 PM

^ I love Bonham, and Moby **** on How the West Was Won is out of this f-in world. However, i haven't had the pleasure of seeing him do it live. I have heard stories of Moon, however, and his drumming on the Leeds album is unbelieveable. It was a tough decision for me, but in the end i went with Moon.

(p.s. love your sig Kashmir - two excellent songs)

boris jawaka 11-22-2005 11:13 PM

moon wasnt the best technically but when you see him play, he plays with a lot of passion - some musicians just play like robots - so moon gets my vote

I'm not bashing the White Stripes, I'm bashing Meg White. You're twisting my words. I'm saying Meg White is a sh*t drummer technically.
