Jaki Liebezeit of Can fame is pretty great. He has the same style of machine-like drumming as the drummer from Silver Apples, both of whom are understated in their skills because they usually use stripped down beats to compliment their music.

Nice references, also, drummers are usually the least respected members of the band. Even though, they hold the whole thing together.
