Tedious Drum Debate

I like drum solos as long as they're brief. And again you should at least actually be a really good drummer. Pearts solos are pretty fun actually.

It's when guys like Tommy Lee and Lars Ulrich do it, any drummer that's popular thinks they can do a drum solo, even if they can't actually play the drums, let alone solo.

A little restraint is good, and too many people confuse it with lacking talent. For all we know Meg White could be the most technically proficient drummer in the world, she's just keeping it a secret.

That's kinda like being the best laundry worker of all time.

It's a job, but you shouldn't be too proud of it.

...

Trust me, Meg White isn't technically or mechanically proficient. I'll spare the resurrection of a fantastic argument, but don't confuse her poor drumming skills with simplicity. Mo Tucker was simple. Meg White is just...awful.

Neil Peart and Danny Carey are overrated. Having more toms than fingers doesn't ensure good drumming.

Show me a video where she ****s up really badly.

And you're also downright insane. You're honestly telling me they're not good drummers because they use a lot of equipment? I'd actually imagine having to use a larger drum kit would make things more difficult, not easier.

You're listening to Slayer so that tells me your idea of a good drummer is someone who mindlessly whacks away on the double bass. Creating the sound equivalent of multiple farts. Too bad.

Dave Lombardo is one hell of a drummer. He's about a lot more than just double bass. Paul Bostaph, not so much.

He is, but meh, I don't like metal drummers much.

You do crack me up sometimes. Many many drummers have come after Lombardo who are faster on the double bass. Most are useless and can only do that. He has command over his whole kit yet he never showboats. He is one of the tightest drummers you will hear and 'Reign in Blood' is one of the finest drum tracks ever laid down.

This is not a clinic just one of his best drum tracks (and a great remix too). Most thrash drummers will lose a certain BPM throughout a frenetic track regardless of pace, because the urge to ' go faster' overides their proficency. Not Lombardo. He is methodical and intense:
