Is it only mettel drummers?

Because i think Travis Barker (Blink 182) is the best drummer of all time.

Are you for cereal? The best drummer of all time? In a pop-punk band? In Blink-182? I wasn't even aware they had a drummer. One that mattered, anyways.

There are so many acceptable alternatives to the five guys posted there. Travis Barker is NOT one of them.

He did play with a broken arm once though. Bit pointless but i respect it nonetheless.

You spelled Metal wrong and none of the above are 'mettel' drummers anyway.

Danny Carey could very grudgingly be called a "metal" drummer. But he doesn't even use a double bass, and his techniques are very, very different from most metal drummers. The only thing that could trace him to metal is Tool's label as an alternative/progressive metal band. In fact, I would say his style approximates that of Neil Peart more closely than any metal drummer.

Did I ever tell you the story about this one guy who said that Danny Carey was a horrible drummer and that he actually has midgets hiding behind his drum kit doing all the work?

lucifer_sam 08-12-2008 02:33 PM

You mean Ethan? I was there to hear that...

Yeah sure anybody can sound like a drumming wizard with all that studio doctoring. I read somewhere that in order to approximate the sound of his drumming on the albums in a live setting, he actually hires a couple of midgets to hide behind his kit at shows and help out with some of the fills. Tool fans don't wanna hear this of course because they're too busy worshipping the very shit that drops from Tool's collective asses. The only thing more redundant than a Tool guitar riff, is the throng of minions willing to drop to their knees and orally service Maynard on command. Gimme a break with this crap. And for the record, Ringo Starr owns Carey.

I have mentioned these guys before but youtube is not great for their music so here is one of the best drum tracks I have ever heard. I hope everyone will give it a listen and appreciate how good he is and how unknown (sadly) they are:

He copied that from some other guy on DDD and altered the words a bit.
