Yes, I actually meant the comment seriously. He was one of the first to combine jazz drumming principles with rock music in an effective manner.

True that. He showed a lot of range in the 70s, not just playing for Genesis and Brand X but Brian Eno as well.

I don't know about best drummer ever but the drummer that I get most excited listening to is Stewart Copeland. The dude is just smooth.

Of those choices Bonham. I love Moon, Bonham and Starr. I love the drummers who are crazy and their personality is essential to the attitude of the band.
