I really like King Animal as well. Definitely in my top ten albums this year. While it's not as good as Superunknown, or my personal favorite, Badmotorfinger, it still kicks all the ass. Definite 9/10 for me.

And I like Audioslave a lot as well. While I don't like seeing Morello's ravenous and psychotic guitar playing get toned down, I think he still did a very solid job. He almost re-invented his style in a sense, switching from the intense and scratchy style he had with Rage to longer notes and more structured playing. Ask me which I prefer, and I'll always tell you Rage, but I thought Morello adapted to Cornell's vocals quite well; just a testament to his talent as a guitarist.

So the general consensus is worth listening to, but it won't blow you away? I've always enjoyed Soundgarden's music, but I was a bit wary of this one based on some of the singles they released...

What cracks me up the most about this is how all the 90's bands that have reunited are busy blaming the other 90's bands for just trying to cash in. No one is completely in the right.

Right now we've got Soundgarden doing the best mid-90's Soundgarden impression they can.

Pavement doing...whatever Pavement do.

Smashing Pumpkins wearily trying to navigate what the fans want and coming up short every time.

Alice in Chains trying to fool us into thinking Layne is still around.

Dinosaur Jr...well they are rocking the ****, so good job, guys.

Pearl Jam is actually looking pretty rosy compared to this nonsense.

A fantastic band. "Louder Than Love" is my personal favorite album.

Ya, I first listened properly to Soundgarden last year when I was getting stuff together for a long plane journey. My only previous experience of them was the single Black Hole Sun, which I always liked a whole lot but didn't bother exploring further.

So I finally got hold of Superunknown, and it TOTALLY blew me away. Has to be one of the very most sublime vocal performances in rock music. Cornell's just something else.

Anyway, I was curious for any views on Badmotorfinger. I was thinking to get it, but am not sure how it stands up next to that masterclass of rock songcraft.

Any help/opinions much appreciated.

I love BMF. It is more raw and Metallic than Superunknown. If you expect it to be like that album, it may not be what you are looking for.

It is more of a heavy, rock album. Not as clean sounding as Superunknown though.

They are two different types of albums. I love both in their own way.

They already have and did. They will be touring with NINE INCH NAILS this summer. A rather strange pairing.

Soundgarden, Superunknown gives me memories of smoking weed and playing Magic in my teens when it was getting a bunch of radio play in the 90's.

My favorite songs were probably 4th of July, Day I tried to Live, and Fell on Black Days.

Yeah, me too. Probably because it was the first one I got. Picked it up based on the reviews I was hearing and was not disappointed. Love the rawness of it. Badmotorfinger is a close second for me.
