Soundgarden is one of my favourite bands of the grunge era. Along with Alice In Chains, I think they definitely outshined (pardon the pun) other more popular bands like Nirvana and STP.

Badmotorfinger and Superunknown both ****ing own the musical palette of the 90s! Of course, I haven't listened to anything of theirs before Badmotor but those 2 albums were full of excellent rock songs!

Slaves And Bulldozers = perfection!

I like Soundgarden for their sound. What I don't like is how, as another form of big loud rock music, they were ever considered "alternative."

Anyway. I own a couple albums, and my favorite song is Spoonman.

Soundgarden has announced that they are making a new album. YES! Radiohead yesterday, Soundgarden today, how can this get any better?

Cornell has sucked for years... I don't think it has much promise.

Don't be a negative nelly! It's because he wasn't surrounded by Matt, Kim, and Ben! That's when the magic of great music happens!

Well, I do agree. I'm a massive Soundgarden fan, but feel Cornell is kind of a douche who is somewhat incapable of writing around his own voice. Soundgarden as a band knew how to actual utilize Cornell's talents like he didn't on his own. So, there's potential, but I wouldn't get my hopes up for a band that's so out of practice writing material.

Well, one thing about Cornell is that the man stuck to his craft, and while his solo work was, well.. crap, when he would play live with his backing band at solo shows, most of the songs they would be playing were (duh) Soundgarden tunes. And from what I've heard about his live performance, and from what I've seen on Youtube of the recent Soundgarden gigs, the man has stayed on top of his shit. See if you can find the video of them playing "Beyond the Wheel" last summer. It's fucking uncanny.

I admittedly also liked his cover of "Billie Jean" by Michael Jackson. If you haven't heard it, don't knock it before you try it.

Mm. I too do not subscribe to an interest in this Soundgarden ensemble. I personally feel their merits match up with that of an all-male vocal group dedicated to pop music, and their vocalist likely practices homosexuality in his spare time.

It's madness.
