You read my mind. Although I'd end up going for Peart.

funny you should mention Jimmy Chamberlain as I was listening to Placebo`s debut album earlier and drummer Robert Schultzberg sounds very similiar, sadly he only featured on their debut album.

arf? Brann Dailor is the drummer for Mastodon. Bill is the guitarist.

but Brann Dailor is really good. He brings more of a traditional, almost classic rock element back to Metal.

I`ve still yet to decide whether I think Mastodon to be a classic metal band or just a good one, but one thing for certain and is as you say, the group have a classic rock element that they put into their sound, especially through the jazzy style drumming of Brann Dailor.

i'm shocked only one person mentioned Matt Cameron so far (and like 4 years ago). super talented and always stuck to a minimal kit. not unlike another personal favourite - Joey Castillo, his work with QOTSA has been top notch and i really like the power and drive he can produce from a simple setup.

and not a single person likes Stephen Perkins (Jane's Addiction) here? sad same goes for Chad Smith.

as for classic rock it's all about Mitch Mitchell for me, though to be honest (as per the slight derail from a while back) i never thought Noel Redding was 'that' good. plus he always came across as bitter and jealous of Hendrix in any interview i saw or read. Mitchell on the other hand, struck me like someone who just wanted to play his a$$ off and smile.
