Haha definitely. I brought up the wah pedal thing because I was referring to Hammett as a wah pedal himself.

The wya most people are answering this is "who hasn't sold out more in your opinion most recently."

Seriously, You saw maiden 20 years ago and they were great? I'm going to fight fire with fire (oooo snap!)

First of all, their British. Any band that has tea time is not metal. Fact. Also, I tried listening to Maiden once and all the glass in my house shattered. So I hate maiden because I cut my foot sweeping it up. Secondly, Metallica electrocuted their bassist and had a bus crush another one, plus they had severe alcohol problems and play the tightest live show this side of a virgins genitalia. Thats ****ing metal.

Also might I add, the long, greasy-haired kid in the corner with the Lamb of God t-shirt who's too angry to socialize or speak to women or generally exhibit traits of higher brain functions. That kid ****ing hates Metallica. Now you can go hang out with latent, and sexually repressed Maiden fan over there, or you can stop pretending that someday your satanic master will bless you with Succubi to sleep with when he makes you a demon and join ****ing reality.

Those are your options douche bag. Stay in little kid "im a viking" land or grow up and listen to real music whose goal is not "how can I make this more METAL!!!!!!!!!!!!\m/\m/

Both Maiden and Metallica have had bad phases. I think most of the people who voted for Maiden did so because they actually prefer them. Regardless of whether Metallica 'sold out', it doesn't change the fact that their newer stuff is crap (IMO). My point is, even if someone who didn't vote for Metallica doesn't think they sold out, there's still a good chance that they hate their new stuff.

So I don't think 'selling out' is the deciding factor.

I've never seen Metallica live so I can't vouch for the live show thing, but regardless, they're tight because they don't play the songs that they can't play (some AJFA). Whereas Maiden could play everything they've ever written flawlessly. Not to mention, they have a second lead guitarist to keep in check as well.

And England is a very metal country... especially for doom.

I hate the metal elitists who dislike all Metallica just because of their selling out, or their popularity. Disliking them for a different reason is probably fine.

I don't see where you're going with this. Most metalheads who like Maiden, like Metallica vice-versa. Despite the nature of this poll, metalheads aren't split into Maiden and Metallica camps. Those two bands are rarely compared because they're not very similar. A better comparison is Priest vs Maiden.

That is the glaring fault of many metalheads. They judge something by metal standards rather than musical standards. That is fine in most cases, but when it comes to metal bands which are greatly influenced by other music, they tend to cop more flak than they should.

uh yeah, I'm drunk so forgive the paltry retort, but is my case not proven by the fact that you have a quote about ****ing elves in your signature. I win.

No, you don't win and that doesn't prove anything. That's a reference to a very good computer game which is a work of art, and it has nothing to do with this - so keep the weak personal attacks out of this. Especially as I'm not even disagreeing with you over half of what you said.

You're drunk so I'm not going to bother here.

Yeah but you already bothered. You can't take the high ground and the low ground. I win.

Yes, I did indeed already bother. But I wasn't going to bother further if you came up with another drunk retort. Judging from your grammar, you're not drunk (hence I'm replying), but your reasoning begs otherwise.

I still don't understand why you even started flaming me when I agreed with almost everything you said. /confused

You said I was wrong on people voting based on what they perceive as selling out.

You said I was wrong about their ability to play because they simply chose easier songs and therefore could not play the hard songs.

Not to mention you insinuated Metallica inferiority because they lack a second lead guitar when Metallica probably boasts the greatest guitar 1-2 punch given that Hetfeild sings as well and plays rather complex things. And England is the country of Doom metal?

You refute me quite a bit.

/unconfused.

I'm not saying you're wrong. I'm merely disagreeing and I provided my reasons why. Sure the selling out thing may make some people hate Metallica even more. But even if they didn't think Metallica sold out, it's not going to suddenly make them like St Anger etc.

A lot of Metallica's stuff is still quite hard to play. But I'm saying they wouldn't play tightly if they chose to play more stuff from AJFA. And obviously their newer stuff is easier to play too.

No, I didn't insinuate that Metallica lacks inferiority for having two guitarists. You're just being paranoid that someone might have insulted your favourite band. My point is, it's harder to keep 3 guitarists (and a bassist who plays like a guitarist) playing together than 2. And you're right about Hetfield - he does a great job playing his rhythm guitar and doing vocals at the same time. I would have sex with him.

Yes, I've refuted you, but not as much as you think. I've always hated elitists, but in the last year I've come to realise that just as bad as the elitists are the people who cry 'Elitist!' or complain when someone doesn't like their favourite band. And this situation is even worse since I do love Metallica. I just happen to be able to impartially judge things related to a band I love; i.e. I love the Smashing Pumpkins but Corgan's vocals are obnoxious.

And you are one of those anti-elitists fanboys who can't stand anyone saying anything which discredits their favourite band in anyway... I mean what the hell was that disillusioned Lamb of God rant about? You won't provide any kind of arguments for your points... you would rather childishly flame me instead of discussing this. Just remember, you're meant to be a mod.
