Default Iron Maiden gonna get you....no matter how far

My opinion:

Iron Maiden with Paul Dianno = Metallica with Dave Mustaine + Cliff Burton
Iron Maiden with Bruce ****inson > Metallica with Jason Newsted
Iron Maiden today >>>>>>>>>>> Metallica today

Other interesting observations:

Steve Harris = Cliff Burton
Steve Harris >>>>>>>> Jason Newsted
Steve Harris > Robert Trujillo

Paul Dianno >> James Hetfield
Bruce ****inson > James Hetfield

Lars Ulrich >>> Clive Burr
Lars Ulrich > Nicko McBrain

Dave Murray > Kirk Hammet

Battle of the worst:
Iron Maidens worst = Janick Gers (walks like a homo while playing on stage)
Adrian Smith (not terrible, but not great)
Metallica = Jason Newsted

Jason Newsted >>>>> Janick Gers
Jason Newsted = Adrian Smith

3 Best songs (my opinion):
Metallica = 4 horsemen, Jump in the Fire, One
Iron Maiden = Phantom of the Opera, Wrathchild, Flight of Icarus
Result: 1) Phantom of the opera, 2) 4 horsemen, 3) Jump in the Fire
4) Flight of Icarus 5) One 6) Wrathchild
(Note: I feel terrible having to place 4 horsemen second, the bass on that song is FANTASTIC)

Instrumentals (my opinion):
Metallica = Call of Ktulu, Anestesia, Orion
Iron Maiden = Genghis Khan, Transylvania, Ides of March
Result: 1) Anestesia 2)Transylvania 3) Genghis Khan 4) Ides of March
5) Call of Ktulu 6) Orion
(Note: I feel terrible having to put Transylvania second, that song is GREAT!)

Softy:
Iron Maiden = Strange World
Metallica = Fade to Black
Result: 1) Fade to Black 2) Strange World
(Note: I regret having to place Strange World second)

2 BEST ALBUMS:
Iron Maiden = Iron Maiden, Killers
Metallica = Kill em All, Ride the Lightning
Result: 1) Kill'em All, 2) Iron Maiden, 3) Killers, 4) Ride the Lightning
(I regret placing Iron Maiden over Killers)

Worst moments:
Iron Maiden = Janet Gers....oops I mean Janick Gers (I really hate this guy!)
Metallica = Haircuts, Napster, headbanging to Avril Lavigne covering one of their songs (Gulp!!!......this one takes the cake by the way)
Result: Iron Maiden > Metallica
(as in Metallica has a lot more to be embarrased about....although Janet Gers and his ***got walk on stage is no walk in the park either...)

Based on MY PREFERENCES, I have to conclude that
Iron Maiden > Metallica

Although Metallica is still great.....i meant, WAS great. If only Dave Mustaine had remained in the band and Cliff were still alive

Interesting analysis... However I find that Nicko is far superior to Ulrich. Ulrich can't play with 2 bass pedals what Nicko can play with one. Nicko's just more tasteful and has better chops IMO.

I'd say:

Rob Trujillo >> Steve Harris >>> Cliff Burton - Burton was pretty decent, but his basslines weren't as good as Harris' ones. Rob Trujillo is actually an insane bassist if you listen to his stuff with Infectious Grooves. That guy is wickedly funky.

I really like morris' analysis and I too agree that lars is an awesome drummer. slightly better than Nicko

I'd take Iron Maiden over Metallica though

Iron Maiden-first band I ever got into properly and they will always have great memories for me. Hated the spandex though!

---Adrian Smith (not terrible, but not great)---

Don't undersetimate his contribution. STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND is one of my fave Maiden tracks and written solely by smith. His harmony work is underappreciated.

I agree with this....the old stuff was much more pleasant to the ears and if I may say so I think they generally enjoyed being musicians back then.

Now, I am a 'tr00' fan of every band I like, but when they do something like this, its natural to criticise them, instead of being a blind fan and saying they have never released anything bad, etc., etc. Even if I bash them, I will still be getting their next album.

Iron Maiden definitely. I only have "Dance of Death," and I love it, and people tell me their other stuff is better, so I expect to orgasm when I start buying the rest of their CD's.... well, actually, I'll be orgasming when I listen to them, because doing it while I buy them will, y'know, make a mess at Best Buy and they'd kick me out.

/ramble.

Metallica is too simple. They can't make anyting as epic-sounding as Iron Maiden. I'll admit, they have a few good songs, but none of them give me that feeling like I'm riding the dragon, fighting and conquering Sparta, Rome, and beyond, kidnapping young virgin maidens ripe for the mating, plundering villages and empires, with the light of Thor raining down on me, and knowing the Gods Rock and Roll have blessed me and that I have found grace!.....

..... I don't get that from metallica. When LArs starts playing, all I hear is "MONEY MONEY MONEY! mmmmmmMMMMMMMONEY!"
