What is the most chalenging song to play on the guitar?

I think it is either the pulse of the maggots solo or errr...:band:

Converge "Saddest Day"

the intro is like =O!

and the solo in
Dragonforce "My Spirit Will Go On"

EDIT: but not the hardest though.

Trauma 10-28-2005 05:17 PM

NO.
No ****ing band can beat this band called Guns of Navarone.
They don't have a myspace, or at least the ones I know don't.
I saw them at The Shelter in Detroit and holy $hit.
Their lead guitarist played so amazingly fast his hand turned into a little fan.
And when he wasn't doing tremolo on all six strings amazing fast he was sweeping the rest of the time.
SWEEPING AT A BILLION MILES PER SECOND!
I think he only played two power chords the whole 45 minutes.
Metalcore.

alot of Jon Donais's solos are pretty tough to learn and master...but thats just me

Anyone heard the solo by Zakk Wylde at Ozzfest 2002, the song is Soil - Halo. That's gotta be hard to play.

Dillinger Escape Plan.
Their guitarist shreds like a beast.

Page's hardest song to play on the guitar would probably be either Since I've Been Loving You or Achilles Last Stand.

andy 10-30-2005 03:36 PM

Oh **** I meant White Summer/Black Mountain Side!!!

gregb 10-30-2005 08:21 PM

I would think some of Yngwie Malmsteen's classical pieces would be pretty damned hard.

dog 10-31-2005 03:03 AM

blackbird- beatles is pretty "challenging"

I know, it isnt THAT hard to play, many beginers have been known to play it after only 1 or 2 years of experience, hell Kurt Cobain could play it, i could name thousends that are harder to play technicaly, it isnt even close to one of Pages most technical solos.

I personaly love the solo, its just not all that technical.

i am not emo 10-31-2005 07:39 AM

you gotta have pretty fast fingers to play Thrice - Paper tigers.

jas2k5 10-31-2005 11:38 AM

try the intro to inferno by symphony x, dno if its the hardest song ever but its deffo not easy

no way I saw some 13 year old playing it at a talent show, c'mon people, I'm sorry but alot of these entires are simply not that hard. I mean maybe hard for a beginner, but lets get some brutal tracks that masters of guitar have problems with.

TheBig3 10-31-2005 11:42 AM

I suppose I should think more about ti but im gunna lob up the expected metallica shout out. Lets go with Blackened today.

i can tell that most of the people replying to this dont play guitar or else you wouldnt get people saying that blackbird is hard to play and that heartbreaker is a piece of cake. If you dont play guitar, you probably shouldnt post a reply in a thread like this.
p.s. black napkins by frank zappa has gotta be up there too

TheBig3 10-31-2005 06:53 PM

No thats a stupid suggestion.

Blackbird, until you realise how incredibly easy it is. Just a bit of stretching your fingers sometimes..

Chili Peppers - Under the Bridge was a hard one at first, a strange chord I never did before followed by a little run up.

Stairway to Heaven but meh, that's an obvious one..

Can't think of any that were too challenging apart from the first few I learnt, but they're always gonna be difficult..

that first chord is just C major slid up 2 frets.

most challenging for me (or at least the one that i gave up on the most) is 'long, hot, summer nights' by jimi hendrix. it's not that fast, but those old school R&B licks just never jived with me.

TheCunningStunt 04-11-2010 09:11 PM

Yep, at the time I learnt it though I didn't know what C# was.. so it was like  what's this strange new chord. Easy now though.. but at the time I remember it being a tricky one

Narita
A lot of Petrucci's Solo work, and with Dream Theater
Eruption and Spanish Fly

ConGrUenCy 04-14-2010 06:56 AM

The Pulse version of the Comfortably Numb solo by Gilmour.

The Bullet 04-14-2010 12:34 PM

Anything by Meshuggah will be near impossible on guitar.
