Milk can be good for proctecting your vocal cords as it builds up mucus around then and minimizes damage. It'll also screw up your pitch if you're singing aswell though and thats the problem.

^ Milk can definatly help you have a more gravely sound, but if you sing as well as scream, you are gonna sound terriable. Its better in the long run to just stay away from it.

Yeah thats what I meant basically.

Apparently drinking lots of water and eating some honey can also protect your vocal cords but not screw with your pitch too much.

Slipknot really isnt a screamo band or any genre that really uses screaming. To get close to them sing low. No screaming is involved for there songs. Just saying that.

Default screaming

As the others said - first of all, do not strain your vocal chords. It could ruin your voice FOR GOOD.
"Good" screamings don't make any damage, they come from the "inside" rather then the "outside". I wish I could explain it better - you should look for the method that Chris Cornell uses, it's a mixed head & chest voice that creates the unique scream

Chris Cornell has a ****ing amazing scream. His range is rediculous. Good points.

As a new member with no attachment to anyone, take my advice:

The vocals on anything like Slipknot or ICP is anything but good. It is completely talentless.

Start a band with some ambition to be something that someone will listen to.

As for needing tips on how to scream a certain way, open your mouth and scream.

People who need help with screaming must have a bit of a learning disability.
