^ Milk can definatly help you have a more gravely sound, but if you sing as well as scream, you are gonna sound terriable. Its better in the long run to just stay away from it.

Yeah thats what I meant basically.

Apparently drinking lots of water and eating some honey can also protect your vocal cords but not screw with your pitch too much.

^ I might have to try that. I also hear peppermint tea helps too??

Slipknot really isnt a screamo band or any genre that really uses screaming. To get close to them sing low. No screaming is involved for there songs. Just saying that.

Couldn't help you sir, but good luck.

screaming

As the others said - first of all, do not strain your vocal chords. It could ruin your voice FOR GOOD.
"Good" screamings don't make any damage, they come from the "inside" rather then the "outside". I wish I could explain it better - you should look for the method that Chris Cornell uses, it's a mixed head & chest voice that creates the unique scream

As a new member with no attachment to anyone, take my advice:

The vocals on anything like Slipknot or ICP is anything but good. It is completely talentless.

Start a band with some ambition to be something that someone will listen to.

As for needing tips on how to scream a certain way, open your mouth and scream.

People who need help with screaming must have a bit of a learning disability.

Yeah, how dare people want vocal training to want to keep their voice in top condition with it maybe being their livelyhood or at least something they love doing and all.

What a bunch of fucking retards they are.

yeah some people just need to learn how to scream properly. I used to scream my lungs out and thats def not what you're supposed to do. lets see, old singer of see you next tuesday, singer of avenged sevenfold, and singer of jeromes dream all lost their voices

I hear that Jerome's Dream guy used to cough up blood from all his screaming. That's brutal stuff.
