I don't think its possible for it to be better. Put it this way If the first album was like dirty pornstar sex, where your an adonis and she's a playboy bunny, this album is like sex with a your very attractive wife. Still great, morally more sound, but still, back of your mind, your thinkin of the pornstar haha.

..yes, I think so!
Definitely agree, from listening to the new album I can understand with what people say by it sounding more powerful. I enjoy both albums a lot. I do think the new one is better.

what i'm getting at is that a band can/should sound like where they come from in MORE WAYS THAN JUST SINGING. singing with subtle accents is to be expected but when it's played up just to grab trendy-ass north american bohemian wannabes' attention, then it just becomes gimmicky. i don't think i'm the only one who feels that the arctic monkeys' music is really gimmicky (in more ways than just the vocals too)
p.s. real cool avatar, way to stick it to the man, smokin weed, cool, real cool

the thing with this album... its one of the strongest second albums ive heard for a while. BUT... it just doesnt generate the same excitement in me as the debut did. Granted, the hype and media furore surrounding it definetly heightened my anticipation, but the actual content itself was amazing, it sped along like a buzz zaw and ticked all the boxes i was looking for at the time, it was a breath of fresh air. YFWN to me lacks something i cant quite put my finger on, i listen to it and just sit there thinking, 'god i wana listen to fake tales of san francisco at the moment'.

contradiction or...? i think it's best that we all just admit that whether we're aware of it or not, we're ALL affected by the media in different ways and to varying degrees. IMO it's very naive to proclaim that you are not affected by media attention in regards to your own perceptions of a band. cuz like i said, we're all influenced by the media whether we like it or not.

they are actually more popular in europe than they are in 'trendy ass north america.'

as far as the weed smoking goes... i enjoy smoking weed. it has nothing to do with sticking it to the man, it just something i enjoy doing. you making fun of someone for expresing who they are, and making up some bull**** reasoning for it is cool man, real cool. 'the irony of it all'

I am going to be really ignorant and say that I have only read one or two posts in here, but I know it's a see/saw sort of love for the Arctics. Their debut is still essential listening and is the zero's debut answer to the 90's Definitely Maybe. Musically adventurous? No. Full of energy, verve and HONESTY? Yes! I think the Arctics could'nt really give a flying dutchman whether you like their singing in regional accents at all. Why should they? I am immensely proud of a British band sounding British and not pandering to an international audience. Our identity is slowly being leeched away by commercialism, so I applaud a band that revels in it's Englishness. Are they the saviours of music per se? Of course not, but they are honest and are true to their roots. Good lads!

do i care if theyre more popular overseas or not? no, do i care about trendy a$$holes whining about how sick they are, sure, silly dance floor songs and gimmicky hooks don't sell me as well as they do others.

btw, millions of us enjoy weed as much as the next guy, but not all of us need to advertise, but that's cool man, real cool.

i wasnt advertising, it is a picture of me at coachella... a music festival i had gone to about a month before i joined the site so it was the most recent picture i had of myself so i thought i would put it on there.

btw who is that picture in your avatar? is it an artist you enjoy? you know all of us enjoy artist, but not all of us need to advertise, but thats cool man, real cool.
