Croatia. It's down in Split, which is about a two hour drive from my island...(:

New Arctic Monkeys - "Crying Lightning" - Stereogum

New single. Me likee.

EDIT: Also, the Josh Homme influence is definitely there.

Pretty boring, I didn't enjoy it. If the rest of the album sounds like this I'll save myself the $20.

singles can be pretty deceptive....I wouldn't rely on that one song to represent the entire album

I liked it. Singles are also deceptive... I can't say the singles off all of my favourite albums have ever been my favourite songs. Anyway, not bad. Definitely on the 'darker' side.

It's an interesting song, my hope is that they didn't peak with Favourite Worst Nightmare

My only complaint would be that Alex doesn't sound very energetic.

I actually liked it although I usually don't like listening to singles, as you guys mentioned, I often find them deceptive.

I agree I think the bands best moments come from Alex having energy while singing such as on The View From The Afternoon.

And singles are made to promote albums and get people interested in buying it but this however has done the opposite for me.

Also anyone else find Arctic Monkeys fans abit annoying? I can only endure so many "OMG ALEX IS SOO CUTE" and "I want to marry alex" before I start to lose respect for the band for apparently having a fanbase made up of teenage girls. Thank god Thom Yorke is fucking ugly.
